Hey guys,

So my wife’s was refused visa today in Lagos embassy because I didn’t make enough despite the fact I used assets to meet up the minimum requirement yet they demanded for a joint sponsor.

here is my question, my brother has agreed to be my joint sponsor, he makes over $80k /year but hasn’t filed 2019 tax. Can we use 2017,2018, and 2019 W2? Or does it has to be 2019 tax transcript?

thanks

He must be current on taxes.

Can I use his W2 instead?

No.......he MUST file his 2019 taxes.  He must the submit the 2019 tax returns or the transcript with the I-864.

Okay thanks

So in a nutshell, W2 won’t fly?

No.....   A W-2 does not indicate taxes were filed.  There is a huge difference between a W-2 and a tax return or transcript.

No,  not if he didn't file

he needs to file and have copy of that 1040 and the W2 (and some embassies do not accept this at all)  or the IRS transcripts
