Paul & Mary is right, an affidavit of support is an I-864. But if you want to include affidavits from friends/family, below is the guideline my attorney had us send to family and friends which they then followed to write their letters.

LAW OFFICES OF

August 25, 2020

To the Relatives and Friends of ______________ and _______________:

I represent ________ in her immigration matters. As part of ____’s immigration process, she must establish that she and her wife, _____________, married in good faith because they genuinely want to spend their lives together. If you are reading this letter, it means that _______ and ________ have asked for your assistance.

Please write a letter, addressed “To whom it may concern.” Please include the date on the top of your letter. The letter should include:

1.     Your name, date and place of birth, and the country of which you are a citizen. If you are not a U.S. citizen, but are living in the United States, please include your immigration status in the United States (i.e. lawful permanent residence and your “A” number).

2.     Your address and phone number.

3.     Based on your personal knowledge, please include as much information as you can in your statement regarding the following points:

Ø  The date and circumstances regarding when you first met ______ and _______ and your relationship withthem.

Ø  How often do you see _______ and ________ and what do you do together when you see each other?

Ø  From your viewpoint, provide a description of the relationship between _______ and _______? How do they interact with each other as a couple and what sort of activities do they participate in together? Please provide specific examples.

Ø  Did you attend ________ and ________’s wedding or any event to celebrate their marriage? If so, pleasedescribe.

Please discuss only those points that you have personal knowledge of. If you do not have knowledge or information about any of the above points, you do not need to state that you do not know in your statement. You may simply not discuss those points.

Please either sign your statement before a notary public or include the following sentence at the beginning of your statement: “I hereby affirm, under penalty of perjury, that the following is true and correct to the best of my knowledge.” Please make sure you sign your statement.

Affidavits from family and friends are the worst evidence that you can furnish.  They are not primary evidence.   You don't have any other bona fides of you marriage?

Even though these letters come under the weakest evidence, I think if the couple is newly married and don't have many things together (depending on circumstances), it's still better than nothing.

We followed the sample on CitizenPath. Attached.

Anyone can get a personal affidavit to say anything.  They are the easiest fake evidence to generate.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
