Hi, wondering if anyone has travelled to Europe and back to the US recently with a conditional green card?

We had a family tragedy back in May but I couldn’t travel home to the UK at the time, which has been devastating. I should be able to at Thanksgiving for a week, but I’m very concerned about not being allowed back in the US because of the EU travel ban (even though I know legal residents and citizens are supposed to be exempt from the ban). I’ve read horror stories of airline staff not understanding the exemptions and not allowing non-citizens to board!

Would appreciate if anyone has any insight to this! Or if anyone who has recently traveled to and from a banned area as a LPR could share their experience?

You are exempt....no reason for concern regarding US entry.  I would be more concerned with any local restrictions.  I haven't seen any horror stories here on VJ.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Ban does no apply to green card holders

Ah yeah I know, thank you! But I’ve heard that some airlines are not understanding the exemptions to the ban (greencard holders, spouses of US citizens etc) and are not letting them board. I’m just wondering if anyone had recent experience of traveling to a banned area and if they had any issues!

Thank you! I’m pleased you haven’t seen any, I knew I was technically exempt but saw a few things on FB that had me worried. Yes for the UK we’d have to self-isolate at my mums house but that’s ok. Thanks!

The only horror stories I recall here were people who were NOT exempt, yet attempted to travel to the US through a banned country.  It is possible, of course, that some airline employees aren't completely aware of the exemptions.

nothing to worry if you are a green card holder. issues seem to arise if you are spouse and not yet a green card holder. There is so much nonsense on the proclamations that achieve nothing but make life miserable for everyone.

duh
