Silence from NVC and I-134

Hello,

I hope you are fine. May you please help me understand the K-1 process.

  1. I received I-797 Notice of Action and it states that my petition is approved and the document sent to NVC. Since, then I have not heard from the NVC.
  2. Also, the  I-797 Notice of Action shows that the Notice is Valid  from 07/08/2020 to 11/07/2020. Does this mean that my fiance's interview has to  be within this period?
  3. Regarding the I-134 Affidavit, do I have to print the form, fill it, and send to the embassy where my fiance with be interviewed or there is a specific address to submit the form?

I will appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Tobby

1) Most consulates have not been - and still are not - processing K-1 visas since March. As such, they are being held at NVC until they resume those services. NVC only assigns a case number for K-1 cases and send them along, so there's been no reason for them to contact you.

2) The CO can extend the validity period. Given the current circumstances, almost everybody's would expire if they did not extend it. I would not expect this to be an issue even if it goes beyond Nov.

3) Specifics vary by consulate, but generally you provide the I-134 to the visa applicant and they present it in person at the interview. A printed, signed, scanned + emailed, and re-printed form is fine....no need to physically mail anything.

Thank you. I was confused if I should write to NVC because on their timeline they stated that "Current case creation time frame: As of 8-SEP-2020, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 31-AUG-2020." , but my document was approved in 7/8/2020, which I believe they must have received it in the month of July or early August.

NVC will just hold the file until the consulate is ready to receive it.
