HEY!!!!! Do we have to write RFE on the envelope!?!?!?!? Has anybody else had done this before????

Its a good idea to do so. It helps it get sorted into the right areas in the mailrooms for faster processing. My fear was that your original RFE information is in the mail room...if processing mail is behind, it could take time for them to get to your RFE. I'd suggest writing in LARGE RED LETTER: RFE on outside of envelope to make sure mailroom sorters know where it goes.

I should receive the notice via mail next week.

Can someone enlighten me on the journey ahead?

How long does it take for VSC to send it to NVC?

How long does NVC take to process the paperwork?

How long does NVC take to send it to the embassy?

Any perspective is much appreciated.

Thank you all for the support. This group has been instrumental in maintaining my sanity!!!

How long does it take for VSC to send it to NVC?

With Vermont they are sending crates every day or so to NVC. I'd say give it 3-4 business days AFTER your approval. You can then call and get information and find out your new case number:

# 202-663-1225 and press 1, 0 you will be able to talk to a live(not dead) person within 3 minutes, they are extremely polite

OR

VSC to NVC is a couple of days. Call NVC at 603-334-0700, 1, 5 to talk to someone. Make sure you talk to someone because K1s are not entered into the automated sytem. If you give them your EACXXXX case number, if they have received it, they will give you your new case number, when they received the file and when it will be sent to the embassy. Turnaround is about 5 days, if not less.

If you have the new case number, some embassies will let you turn in packet 3 before they have the physical file.

How long does NVC take to process the paperwork?

Can be a few days up to weeks or months, depending on the name check and hits. Usually the typical petition is through this in less than 2 weeks. You can call for updates.

How long does NVC take to send it to the embassy?

No clue on this one...I'd say give the entire process 2-4 weeks. Just keep tabs on it at the above phone numbers...then after its been sent..you can call/email your embassy to find out if its been recieved.

Congratulations! :)

The answer to each one of your questions is that it has been taking a week or less for each step although it is possible to have delays. If you go to Embassy Info at the top of the page and then look for Colombia's embassy there is some information there that will help you up to the point when the package arrives at your embassy. After that you need to look elsewhere for information that pertains specifically to your embassy. Good luck!

My SO took me cross country skiing this past weekend. I had never been and he's a really good skiier and teacher, so it was great. One thing he taught me, which I think works as a wonderful analogy to what's going on with a lot of us here and echoes what Amrssnoangel said:

"Look at where you want to go, don't look down at your feet. If you look at where you want to go, you'll get there."

Don't freak out Mirla!! What they were advising to do was just to be more helpful, not necessary. I think it's more important that this second time out you get tracking and a signature on it. The big red lettering is helpful, but if it's not there, I don't think you should cause yourself more stress by worrying about this too!

Mirla - I have never heard mention of a special envelope - just that if you mark the RFE in red that it helps it to get to where it needs to go more quickly.

Thanks Julez....Now it's in God's hand....I still cannot get in touch with Pat but I just texted him so I guess when the signal gets back he will read it.....Oh man! I should've known this before.....
