She mentions DCF in Manila.   In 2016 it was likely she could have done the DCF there in as little as 2 months.

Yes, my dates are correct, of course.

And @Villanelle is exactly right, of course, as well. Exactly right!

 

Backstory

We married in Oct, 2016, and did DCF (Direct Consular Filing) in Manila.

DCF in Manila was available at the time. It only took a few weeks to get the spousal visa. POE/Immigrated  to America in December, 2016, two months later.

THAT is/was the beauty of DCF.

 

In fact, we could not file the N-400 until one day past our third year anniversary, even though our 90-day N-400 window had opened in September.

We had to wait till we were married a full three years, hence the married on Oct 10, 2016 and filed N-400 Oct 11, 2019. The online system warned us when we tried to start the filing earlier, based on the 90-day window.

For most "normal" timelines, this timing issue does not come up. But when you get the spousal visa in only 4 or so weeks, it matters.

 

Side Note

[Now, people think we are lucky and all that, but really, this was thought through, and the benefit of the US Spouse making a significant sacrifice to actually reside in the Philippines, rather than do long distance.

It was not by chance, it was a benefit of planning for several years. We thought it through. It costs lots of money to do this. Was not cheap, by any means, but we wanted to be and stay together, so we made the sacrifice of the US Spouse living in the Phils.

Now, there is no DCF in Manila anymore, so could not do it that way now. We would have done something else...like ask the beneficiary's company for a work transfer to the States. The beneficiary continues to work for the same global firm now, only now in Tampa (our choice from one of 100 cities in the US).]

 

Additional Note:

Notice that we actually got married IN THE US, right near his Hawaii residence. And then went back to the Philippines to do the process, because we had learned from VJ what was proper to do, and we did it that way...the right way.
