Hello

I am starting this topic as i want to hear from immigrants that already got US citizenship, can you tell me if it has been Worth it Getting Second Passport?

I know all about advantages of having US citizenship(no need to tell me about Voting and running for the office, already work for state government  with my GC)

I want to hear opinions having US citizenship and Taxes(investments, Real estate out of USA... etc), reporting Private property, Foreign income...

I have pretty good passport and am allowed to have dual citizenship.

Thanks

This is extremely country specific so your responses are going to be varied especially since you don’t share your country of origin.  We would say of course it’s worth it because we can actually travel to most countries without a visa verses Having one of the most restrictive passports there is. From what I’ve heard it’s MUCH easier to go through customs and immigration internationally with a US passport as well. Regardless if you are a LPR or US citizen you need to claim your worldwide income to the IRS so that part doesn’t change. There’s never any “fear” of deportation. My husband can still go to his home country and not have to pay the tourist fee and he can still purchase land because they will still see him as their citizen regardless.

Having dual citizenship means you have to carry both both passports while traveling and pay double the renewal fee. Some countries are a pain in the a$s to renew passports and that alone can make one want to switch.

Overrated

Tend to agree. Except, once in a while, I get to tell border agents of TWO countries that they can't talk to me like that. On one occasion I even told an agent to stuff it.
