i-134 and furlough

Hi guys,

Quick question. We had already written up our I-134 prior to the pandemic. Now my fiance has been furloughed. What should we write instead? He is still employed by his work but he is receiving unemployment now. What do we write? His work? Unemployment? Write it in the comments?

We are using a co-sponsor anyway and this was always the case. They haven't lost their job. I am just not sure what to put for my fiance.

You can list his employer if you really want, but his current income is $0 if he is fully unemployed so it doesn't really matter.

I'd do nothing for now. You don't have an interview date scheduled so there is no rush. The petitioner may be back to work at that time of the interview and you'll just have to redo the I-134, Affidavit of Support again. I know you are anxious but right now you just must wait till something opens and you can move forward. Good luck and stay engaged.

That's true. I am hoping to hear back about my emergency interview on Monday so was just hoping to know what I should do if it is approved and I need to finish grabbing everything ready.

Yeah that’s what we are doing! He’s furloughed and is going to be called back soon - constant communication with boss through this. Which is fine. I just didn’t know how to write furloughed or anything on there? Don’t want to misrepresent just want to explain the situation correctly!
