Hi, just want to know if your children had their interview and visas? Thank you.

Yes they had their interview, passports already received, fees paid, and plane tickets purchased, they will immigrate in April.

Hi Everyone,

My I-824 application is approved on 03/04/2021. I haven't received any updates or welcome letter from USCIS yet. On my approval notice of I-824  under the section: I am requesting that a US consulate to be notified. Consulate: Kathmandu.

I have called NVC today and they respond me that as your notice mention that to notified to consulate NVC haven't received any update from USCIS. Please let me know if you guys have written something on your approval notice. I have applied I-824 for my spouse who is currently out of the states.  How long does it take to receive welcome notice from NVC ?

My I-485 was approved based on employment and I have applied i-824 for my spouse to join my application. Does your I-824 approval notice mention about NVC in the section ? In my approval notice it mention only about the US consulate. So I was worried if USCIS has sent it to US consulate instead of NVC for further processing?

Hi! It doesn't work like that. The I-824 doesn't mention NVC but USCIS doesn't communicate directly with the consulates (only in very few cases with something call direct consular filling). USCIS send the approved petition to NVC then NVC will process your case.

In my case it took 13 months to get the welcome letter from NVC, but the normal process should be up to 8 weeks.

And even if USCIS send the approved petition to the consulate directly, the processing is even faster. A friend had follow to join case but for asylee and NVC just received & sent the petition directly to the consulate. Then the consulate just told my friend to bring the requisite to the interview. No uploading documents or nothing.

Thank you F2J_March  and JR & RT for your response.  My approval notice does not mention anything about the NVC .  Both the petitioner and beneficiary has my name on it. Not sure if its due to incorrect type is selected while filling out the form. My approval notice looks like this.

On your I-824 application did you select 1b or 1c under reason for the request?

It takes 6-8 weeks to get Welcome Letter and have case opened with NVC.  Then you have a year to pay fees and complete DS-260.
