If application centers open on May 4th, can I walk in for a biometrics appointment with my letter for April 4th?

Sure.  Your expected adjudication in July or August.   Doing biometrics in May doesn't change that or speed it up in any way

Yeah, will think about it. According to the uscis app, most people filing around the same time as me received ead in early April, presumably because biometrics were either on file or done in time. My biometrics letter arrived a few days after the centers closed.

Pretty sure USCIS Website states processing time (at Vermon and National Benefit Center) for form 765 (c)(9) is at least 5.5months.

You are right. I am looking at a feature that allows me to see the status of case numbers immediately following mine. Most EADs and about half of all APs immediately following my case numbers have been approved. No new movement since 04/15, though. Maybe the ones that still say "case received" dont have biometrics on file, just like mine😞

I’m pretty sure the cases that you saw have been approved most likely to be OPT Work Permits (for F1 student)... OPT EAD applications generally will be processed faster (30-60 days) and dont require to get fingerprints taken.

I think you should pay attention to the i765, i131 cases that goes together with i485, i130 (3-4 cases: 131, 485, 130, 765 in subsequent order)... these cases will be processed slower. (If they are approved, most likely got the fingerprints taken / got approved with expedite request)

I just hope with the current COVID situation, maybe our (c)(9) cases could be processed a little bit faster since most of USCIS employees can only work on case files now...

The majority of i765 were approved and the are subsequent to I140 cases filed in Nebraska, like mine. Oh well, biometrics in June, hopefully!
