Every country has the ability to react to this as they see fit.  The only thing driving this are the models that may or may not be accurate, or good at predicting this unknown virus.  No one knows how accurate the numbers are and as we know, models can be easily manipulated depending on the assumptions and how these are weighted.  When you start suggesting that the US institute a form of marshal law in enforcing reaction makes it a logical leap to creating a global police force to do the same.  Personally, I like our federal system of government where the states have more power, but it is interesting to see many of the leftist media types who were saying President Trump was acting like a dictator, now suggesting he should act like a dictator.

Nobody made any such suggestions. To the contrary, many other solutions were offered(and those weren't even all of them) yet all were shut down, seems some think the best answer is to do absolutely nothing.

Bravo. You took one sentence out of a whole conversation, totally misunderstood the way it was meant, and turned it into global lockdown by the UN. So I'll say it again - those of you who don't want lockdowns(I don't either) - how do you suggest controlling this virus? or do you suggest doing nothing at all? I have gotten not one single sensible answer yet, from anybody.

So how was it supposed to be interpreted?  Having police make stops and forcibly remove people from a bus, train, plane, etc., that are sick for whatever reason (how would the police know a person had Covid19, or something else like a bad case of seasonal allergies).   I suggest we do what we should do, when you are sick, you self isolate, we practice proper hygiene, and we do things that are healthy meaning, no smoking (marijuana or cigarettes), or vaping.  However, I don’t think isolation by force and implosion of an economy is the best course of action.

So why would you actually suggest such an extreme measure?  Heck, using your logic, we should stay locked down because who know what is next.  Governments are not going to take proactive measures, we had nearly twenty years to develop  broad spectrum coronavirus vaccine based on SARS as well as MERS,  it what was done, nothing.  I am waiting to see a model of what this lockdown will do to people, how much crime will increase, how much will suicides increase, how many businesses will not come back, how much personal freedom will we lose?  Where are those models?

Nope, other ways besides full lockdown. That's what this whole thread is about. And the other answer I just posted in another one.

Because we didn't do any of the other things I mentioned nor are we doing them now, and because we wasted too much time not taking any action, including social distance, to the point where the only option left to start putting out the rapidly spreading fire was a lockdown.
