Hi guys,

New to the forum here, I've got K-1 Visa interview scheduled on 18th Wednesday at Montreal Consulate.

Haven't heard anything about a cancellation or rescheduling from them....I fly out tomorrow morning from Saskatoon.

Should I take it they are still operating as normal?

They were still open today. Someone that had an interview overheard that they're taking it day by day right now. I'd check before your flight tomorrow and if it's still open, go.

Hi DGF

How would I check? They don't seem to answer any phone calls from the number that is listed on their contact info. Do you have any other numbers you can refer me to? My flight is 6AM so that would be hard to skip out unless I find out tonight.

Thanks!!!

Scratch that. They just announced that they are stopping nonimmigrant visa interviews with no date for when they'll resume. I'm so sorry that you made it this far just to be delayed :( Desperately hoping that they resume normal operation soon.

Hey DGF!! This is so weird, I just contacted the ais.usvisa-info contact centre and they confirmed with me that my interview was not cancelled. Which is shocking because I told them that according to the usembassy website all nonimmigrant visas are. He tells me that is true, however because of the DS-160 on my profile, my appointment is now considered an immigrant visa (what?) and there is no cancellation on my end or in my profile and I have not been contacted at all.

K-1 is treated as an Immigrant visa in most cases. Its the reason why they only do it in Montreal along with other family-based Immigrant visas (CR-1/IR-1, etc). Praying for the best for everyone right now, we're booked the 1st of April.

Yes, it was a little confusing at first for me to find that out as well.

Goodluck to you both! The us embassy site says they will be decreasing the amounts of immigrant visas depending on staffing so I hope it does not affect you guys.

That's so confusing ugh

We have a thread for Montreal specifically in the Canadian sub-forum.

Unfortunately, as I land in Montreal this afternoon to this.  I was still on the bus to downtown when I read this email.

not the best day this year!
