Hi everyone, I'm new here and desperate for some help. I got k1 approval and in the process of emptying my house, giving notice left right and centre, was supposed to fly from the Netherlands to Newark on the 8th May, my visa expires on the 21st, I feel so stuck as to what I should be doing next. I risk losing everything here as well as my visa. I was planning on visiting family in the UK for a few weeks prior to leaving but the UK is now on that list too.

I can't find any information regarding an extension, or whether they would make allowances for these situations. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, after 5 years of long distance, I can't just let this go.. The whole visa process wasn't just costly, but long and frustrating at times too.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is absolutely no way of knowing, I would assume that everything will still be in flux for sometime and plan accordingly. I assume there will be arrangements to extend the validity of a K1.

Thankyou so much, planning on contacting the embassy on Monday, guess it won't be plain sailing for a while.. Im still in a state of disbelief.

I live in the mountains of Colorado, Vail Resorts that operates the local ski resort - Breckenridge, has closed for at least a week, my assumption longer, busiest time of the year, lot of people are reliant on the ski business for a pay check, and nobody knows how this will play out.

Sadly it is what it is and nobody knows how this will pan through.

Good luck, and let us know what they tell you.

You should start your own thread for your own question, in the meantime note that you should be able to get the visa reissued :

9 FAM 504.10-5(A) (U) Issuing Replacement Visa During Validity of Original Visa
a. (U) If you are satisfied that an applicant will be or was unable to use an immigrant visa (IV) during its validity period because of reasons beyond the applicant’s control and for which the applicant is not responsible then you may issue a replacement visa with the originally allocated visa number within the same fiscal year even though the visa has not yet expired. You should recall and cancel the originally-issued visa and collect once again the appropriate IV application processing fee (including the Diversity Visa Lottery Fee for a DV applicant), unless the applicant was unable to use the visa as a result of action by the U.S. Government over which the alien had no control and for which the alien was not responsible.
