Hey guys,

Just a quick I134 question: I thought that my fiancee just filled this out and I took it to interview, but she has seen some information on the USCIS website leading her to believe that the I134 needs to be sent to the California Service Center before she sends it to me.

Both of us seem to think that this doesn't make much sense, could someone just clarify this.

Thanks,

Buffertortoise

Hi buffertortoise,

Wow. I was just thinking of the same question myself. I was also under the impression that this form is taken to the interview as well. I'm a bit confused now too. My fiancee hasn't received her packet from the embassy since it is currently on its way to the embassy.

Is this the information you are referring to on the immigration forms page?

Here's what it says on the USCIS site >Immigration Forms:

Affidavit of Support I-134 $0.00

To file this form, it needs to be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer at any USCIS Office, by a notary public, or other official authorized to administer oaths for general purposes. If the sponsor is outside the United States, the affidavit must be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer or Consular Officer at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed.

2/28/07. Versions 12/04/06, 7/14/06 and 6/17/06 are also acceptable.

Whatever information is leading anyone to believe they are to send an I-134 to a USCIS service center is being misinterpreted. I-134 forms are only used to satisfy Consular Officers that the visa applicant will not become a public charge. There are no Consular Officers at USCIS Service Centers. The work at US Consulates abroad.
