Interview Documents

Hello all, 

 

I was wondering if there is a comprehensive and updated list for all the documents that we should bring to the interview? Also, the website says "bring originals" -- to what extend do they mean? 

For example, I included flight ticket stubs, W2 forms, IRS tax transcripts, my birth certificate. Do all of these have to be originals?? Thanks so much!

Check the travel.state.gov site to find a checklist of required interview documents for your embassy. Beneficiary's documents should be original and I believe the I864 needs to have the wet signature as well. Petitioner's documents (W2s, tax transcripts etc) can be photocopies.

Original or original certified copies of official government issued documents.  Supporting evidence like boarding passes can be copies.

They photocopy everything they need, at the interview, and hand it right back. You won't leave there without your documents.

Might depend on consulate. Stockholm only requires photocopies of petitioner's documents such as tax info, and originals of beneficiary's documents. OP should definitely check travel.state to see their consulate's interview checklist

Yes.  I pointing out that there's a difference between a "document" and a piece of paper used as relationship evidence.

So just to confirm W2s and IRS transcripts can be copies?

like for example - for my family member's greencard, I can't bring the original. Can I just bring a photocopy?

Another question--I am currently printing out the documents of my joint sponsor, to bring to the interview. Do I need the joint sponsor to sign every page? Please let me know and thanks so much!

No.  Where are you getting these off the wall ideas.  Your joint sponsor signs the I-864 in the designated space for sponsor's signature and date.  Nothing else.

Hi I went for my interview ytd and passed 

They will ask original birth certificates marriage certificate divorce certificate police record & their copies 

Irs & paycheck can be downloaded from the website. Your flight tickets & bills can be copies as well.
