I-485 rejected. Please help decipher this rejection letter!

Hi! My husband came over in October, we got married in November, and then sent i-485 off in January. We recently a letter stating:

 

Your i-485, fees and any supporting documents are being returned to you for the following reasons:

 The payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided. ....

based on the information you provided, your priority date could not be established. Please resubmit your application with the proper documentation to the address listed below.

 

what exactly does this mean? I sent in 2 money orders that totaled $1225. One for $1,000 the other $225. 

Do they not accept money orders? I remember clearly filing the i-129F with a money order. Please help!

It should have been $1,140 + $85 = $1,225

I bet the issue is that you sent 2 money orders and not 1

I sent 2 with mine and it was fine, I even split it kinda weird lol but i also included a cover letter outlining everything within the package.

Did you send in the i-130 as well?

Yea, it was exactly $1225.  That's why I don't get why it was rejected.

It might be because it should have been one money order of $1140 and another of $85?

 

Might be better if you use the credit card transaction form as payment next time, if possible.

No, that was sent first and after it was approved, then I sent in the I-485 Package.

You should send ONLY 1 money order amounting $1,225.00. Pay to the "U.S DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY" 

 

We also used money order when we submitted my AOS. That's what we did.

Not true. You can send more than one checks, money orders, or whatever you're using to pay.

Did you send I-131? What category did you use? If you used other than C9 or C09, your package was rejected because of that.
