So, my biometrics appt is scheduled in the afternoon and my half my face and eyes are swollen with an allergic reaction that makes my eyes look like a water balloon! I feel fine and can drive, so I will make it there. But, will they turn me away because of this? Does the photo that is taken used for passport or something? Cause I don't look like myself! And to make matters worse, I have a surgery scheduled week after next which requires at least 2 weeks of recuperation (no driving). So sad about the timing of this! Please reply if you have something to share. Thanks.

They can take your fingerprints but you may need to return later for picture. Antihistamines aren’t helping to bring your swelling down?

Thank you for replying. I hope they can fit me in later this week or latest by next mid-week. No anti histamines will not be able to bring this swelling down soon enough.

I read somewhere that the photo taken at the naturalization biometrics could end up on the naturalization certificate. I would find a way to reschedule.

I am almost sure the photo is used for your naturalization certificate. 

Rather than rescheduling (you can't choose the new date) I would go to your appointment today, get your fingerprints taken, and I would think they would tell you when to show up for the photo (as a walk-in). This is all an assumption, though. Maybe you can call the office?

The IO takes a picture during the interview. I wonder if USCIS uses that photo for the nat cert if the one from biometrics is not good enough? Or do they have to take a good picture at biometrics as part of background check? I'm not sure about this.

Update: since there wasn't much time to inform them and get this rescheduled, I opted to show up for the appointment and ask right there. I went, got some curious and surprised looks, the man handing out the forms to be filled prior to taking a ticket/token said he could just stamp it and have me come in whenever I was looking normal again, but I dithered and opted to get called and ask for the biometrics officer what they recommend.  asked her if this photo was the one used on the certificate and she said yes. She also sounded unsure and ended up asking the same man who originally recommended me  to come later and he repeated the same thing. So, I came back and will wait till I look myself again (hopefully in a couple o days!). to complete this. They did not give me the option to do the fingerprints and come later, I also feel it's better to complete all at once.

 

Truly my eye area has swelled up to twice its size as has my nose. If they use it for background checks, it would have been a fail!
