DS-260

The website is confusing, do I need to fill out a separate DS-260 for my wife's 4 year old son? He is listed as coming on the I-130, but NVC page about children is confusing.

You just need to list the kid on  your wife DS-260 because the kid has their separate I-130 as well as DS-260.

Okay thanks but they only have my wife listed at NVC, not her son who is coming with her,I listed him on her application, so how to add him a DS-260 other than wait and see if they create one for him.

Did you file an I-130 for the son?

not a separate I-130 because i was told he did not need a separate one, only needed to be listed on her application, he is only 4 years old

Unfortunately you heard wrong.  If you filed a spousal visa you need a petition for each person.  There are no "derivatives" for a CR1/IR1

You can file the I-130 and ask for an expedite once you have tha NOA1.   Tell NVC to hold the wife's petition.

You need your documents and his documents.   I would include the NOA2 number of mom's petition.

After you get the NOA1 you can call / write in a request an expedite.

 

Again ask NVC to hold the mom's petition so they process at the consulate together.

I can't see where you were told wrong. The only thing I saw was that you were told that you do not need to file an I-130A for your son.

I'm assuming you are a US citizen; correct? For your son file I-130; you can file online now. Your thread said I-130A spouse supplement: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/702409-i-130a-help/ Don't submit I-130A for your son.
