Yes I filed late afternoon the day before thanksgiving. I am military and asked to be expedited because of my job. The customer service is hit or miss with being helpful, I think I talked to everyone in the office lol. But they act on expedite request very fast.

Wow. You should go and fill out your Visajourney timeline - this one will go down in history hehehe

There are specific criteria for expediting petitions.

Yes - I have tried to do it via hotline and was advised to send a message through the online system. Which hasn't been answered since, so I am just in awe how quickly processing can happen if you speak to the right people :)

Expediting through a hotline? Never heard of such a thing.  Is it an F2A visa?  Family preference visas cannot be expedited, as you have to wait until the visa is available.

F2A is current immediately right now, so expediting has the same benefits as that of a USC filing for a spouse.

Yes you can file a request to expedite via the 1-800 number - I understand that's what the poster here did, successfully.

I inquired about expediting the petition, which is possible unrelated to the visa bulletin. The visa bulletin is also current at the moment, so once a petition reaches NVC there's no wait.
