Original naturalization certificate I130

Hello guys,

I have my oath ceremony soon and was wondering if I need the original naturalization certificate to apply for i130? The reason I ask is because I wanted to apply for a passport at the ceremony, but I heard that take away the certificate. I can make a copy before I submit the application. Will that suffice, or do we need to send the original?

USCIS doesn't require the submission of original documents only legible photocopies

I agree, USCIS does not require original documents.  As to applying for a passport at the ceremony, if you are doing it at a passport agency, they may not keep the certificate, but I guess I would find a place to make a few copies of it prior to applying for the passport.

Just a heads up, in addition to originals not being required at USCIS, they’re also not recommended to send originals to USCIS, as you will not get any documents back that you sent to USCIS
