Hi Everyone,

I'm helping some friends fill out paperwork for the diversity visa lottery. They have been selected and are submitting documents and getting ready to schedule the interview. My question is when do they receive their green cards (assuming all goes well with the rest of the process)? Will they receive their green cards in their home country before they leave, or will the cards be mailed to them after they arrive in the US? They want to make sure they put down the correct address for where the green cards should be sent.

Thank you!

If successful, the GC will be mailed to their designated US address after they have entered the US using the diversity visa

If they are successful at the interview, they will be issued an immigrant visa which has a validity of around 6 months. They have to enter the US within 6 months.  Upon entering the US, they will become lawful permanent resident. Their green card will be mail to them within a few weeks from the time they enter, to the address they specify in their visa application
