K1 AOS Interview Invitation - When does it arrive?

Hey everyone,

finally the status changed online a few weeks after I went in to give my fingerprints - it now says they'll schedule an interview for us and send a notice with the date for the AOS Green Card Interview.

That was almost two weeks ago; probably no grounds to worry yet, I know this can all be slow. How long did it take you guys to get the invitation letter for the AOS interview after the status changed on the USCIS page? (If you've been tracking that) just wondering; thanks!

* Moved from K-1 P&P to AOS form K-1 forum. OP is at AOS stage. *

Depends on local field office. Some may take weeks to a few months. Some may sit at that status for a year or so.

Ah, sorry for posting in the wrong forum.

Yeah, I've read online that the entire AOS process can take slightly over a year to complete so...guess I can just wait and see. Either way, I'm here in the US now :)

One more question; I assume the Employment Authorization Process is separate and the interview unrelated to that? After turning in my fingerprints, the status for that changed to " we have received your prints" and it's still on that. Thanks!

AOS interview can take months to years. Depends on how backed up your local office is. You do not get an interview for EAD. I think EAD is running 4.5-6.5 months.

Correct, it is separate. Normally they tend to adjudicate the I-131 and/or I-765 around the same time that the case is ready to be scheduled, so hopefully soon. There is no interview or anything else needed for those...it will just be approved (barring an RFE) and come in the mail.

If the status changed to "Interview was scheduled", you'll get something in the mail within a week or two unless there's some issue with your mail or USPS.

If it changed to some variant of "ready to schedule", it could be a week or a year or more; there's no way to know (though taking a month or two off the lower bound of the processing time range for family-based AOS at the normal field office for your zip code is a decent place to start).

it is the latter; it says ready to schedule. 11 months then in my case, huh...

Well, if the EA is separate, I am in no rush. Thanks for the answers, I can just wait anyway!
