Hello,

Does anyone know what are the chances of being selected on the diversity visa lottery? Does it depend on country of birth/chargeability?

Thank you

Of course it varies a bit by country, but from what I found, it is about 0.79% of all qualified applicants that get visas based on 2018 numbers.

It's not country of chargeability per se that matters as much as region - the DV quotas are based on regions. The probability is generally around 0.5% of being selected. It happens (it happened to me :) ) but it's obviously not something to rely on. Good luck with your entry though!

- I do suspect that the new procedure of requiring a passport before entry will reduce the number of entries and could therefore increase the probability of selection, but it will still be a tiny probability.

@fs2439, your profile says Brazil which is not eligible - you were born elsewhere?
