Hey VJ family.

Is it a good idea to fire our lawyer while we are in AP?

Reasons being we feel he doesn't care much about our case anyway.

Immediately we got the yellow form we let him know and he told us it's our fault!!

When uploading our affidavit of suport on nvc it's like he never really went through it and on interview it turned out that we needed a joint sponsor..After letting him know he sent my husband this message " it is your fault"

Now 15 days later he sends us a message saying * after reviewing your affidavit it seems your income can not support both wife and kid*

Anyway it's a total frustrations!

What do you advise guys.

#will us removing him have any effect on our case?

It will not affect your AP if you fire the lawyer.   It is true though that you are still responsible for fully understanding the content of what you submit, even if you’re paying someone else to do it.

If the embassy is telling you that you need a joint sponsor, there is no work-around that the lawyer can achieve.

Thanks. But we didn't understand much about the affidavit, so I still feel that as our lawyer at least he would have helped us understand it better..so we went with what he told us..What hurts most is the fact that after getting the 221g it's when he says that *after reviewing your tax returns i realize you put depedents* really!! Anyway we live and learn but i feel that he never paid attention to our case!

That is exactly why most of us here on VJ have chosen to DIY without using a lawyer.  They cannot speed up or impact the process in any way, and they often cause delays.  They also rely on the documentation provided by the client, so even if you use one you have to do all the footwork and research.
