It has been 34 days since I received my NOA2 and I still have heard nothing from the NVC. I have searched through the timelines and have seen others with similar NOA2 received dates that have and have not heard from the NVC. I understand there is a backlog going on at this time but what is a reasonable amount of time to wait?

I agree with Hank. Give them a call at least get your case number if it is available then after that you will have more of handle on the question "where in the world is Aviculture1's file".

Also, Hanks got some good links for the Philippines instructions in preparation for the interview. But you are dead center in the process for other things you can be doing found here.

Calling won't get them the all important email/letter that is needed to get the medical done.  Acquiring the MNL# over the phone doesn't help with much of anything

When status shows READY you can schedule the interview and get things done as quickly as you want.

When I check the status with the link you sent I get this message, "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center. ", but I have not submitted anything nor set up an interview date. Is this just a canned response that is sent until it reaches "Ready" status?

Canned response,  NVC doesn't do anything for k1s

YMMV

Yup that is a canned response, NVC handles all immigrant visa petition, the K-1 is the odd duck so that doesn't apply.

Being it is in transit I would expect READY to show up very soon.

Follow the guide I linked to you earlier; pay the visa fee, wait 12-24 hrs then schedule the interview.   Gather all the documents listed in Step 5 of the embassy checklist.

So it is okay to schedule the interview before the status is Ready?

NO.   Wait for status on CEAC to show READY.       Being your status showed IN TRANSIT  I would expect to see READY rather soon.   Just a little patience

It is OK to pay the visa fee before READY status.
