Hello,

I applied for Naturalization on Aug 10, 2019 and USCIS have scheduled my biometrics appointment on Sep 5, 2019.

Considering the average timeline for this process as per my field office, it takes about upto 15 months. During that process, my Indian passport will expire ( Feb 2020).

Should I renew my Indian passport or does it not matter. I have the valid PR card which is valid until 2024.

Thank you

imo unless you won't have ever have a sudden family emergency that will force you to go to India within the next 15 months, then you don't need to renew it. The average timeline of 15 months is just too long not to have a valid passport for the remaining 9 months.  I would have it renewed after biometrics just to get it over with.

If it isn't to tough to do while here in the US, I would renew it just to be safe. If it was going to be a difficult process I might not bother with it, but with the way the Immigration works here like others have said I wouldn't want to be without a valid passport from one country or another in case of travel being required. If it is something you can do by mail without traveling to an embassy I would renew. Maybe your local embassy does Mobile Consular. My wife has to renew her Thai passport as it will be expiring in 6 months or so, and we have a bunch of international, and local travel coming up in the next few months, so her closest embassy to me is in Los Angeles, and we are in Las Vegas, NV. But I already made an appointment for the 7th of September because twice a year they have a mobile group of people that travel to different cities in the area of their embassy to help people renew their passport. They will be about 5 miles from my home, so we will go over there, fill out paperwork and give them a return express envelope to use to return the new and old passport to us when they are done, and it is easy. They do all the legwork. Takes 2-3 weeks roughly, so for as easy as it is, were going to do it. A money order and a prepaid envelope is pretty easy to supply.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

I personally would say renew incase of an emergency. I don't know about your origin country passport process but I was able to renew mine online really easily (including taking a new photo).

I have been through the K1 Visa process twice. My first journey began in 2006 & I surrendered my Green Card prior to filling the I-751
