How long does it take to get an interview date at the US embassy (merged threads)

First post, only found this wonderful place last night as I was digging around for information. As many of you clearly already know, its usually a long, draining and lonely process, made even worse being separated from your family.

So been combing through this site to try and find anyone in the same situation as me and I can't find anyone. I'm under a F24 (parent sponsor child over 21) and my PD is March 2013 (which is current), I have completed all the paperwork and got confirmation from the NVC that I was DQ on the 26th June 2019 and that they'll be working with the Embassy here in London to arrange an interview date.

I've heard nothing, but not sure if I'm supposed to have heard anything. I can't find anything anywhere to guide me and what I am I'm finding is so contradicting- I've seen people say 2 weeks (but that is for a K1 visa) all the way to 9 months (but that was for Dhaka !), but nothing in the UK, based on my visa type. I just need to know how long it takes to get an interview date.

Does anyone know if the letter is sent by snail mail or through email ? I'm hoping email and not mail as mail is dreadful around my end.

Just any help, opinions, or just someone in the same visa category would be a start lol

Since it's all up to the NVC to give you an interview date, you might find more people analyzing timelines in the NVC FORUM https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/83-national-visa-center-dept-of-state/

In this forum, look for people, with Visa type IR1/CR1because NVC hands out their interview dates and you would fall into that same time frame because they are both immigrant visas.

Thanks for your quick reply, its really hard finding anyone in the UK waiting for the embassy based on my visa type. It's like banging your head on a brick wall.

You'll be the same timewise as any IR1/CR1 visa now that you have reached the priority date and done all the NVC requirements. Those spouse visas are around but not as many as K1s.

Heres one to follow that started this thread https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/713535-register-your-immigrant-visa-appointment/

and here's the timeline

I bet @JFH keeps up with NVC to London timelines even though she went through a couple of years ago

Thank you so much, ironically that person got NVC approved 2 days before me.... which is either a good thing or means I should be worrying lol

He just got notified two days ago. I wouldn't worry yet.

Was hoping someone in this section could shed some light on how long it takes to get an interview at the US embassy in the UK. I became document qualified on the 26th June 2019. I just want to know roughly how long it takes as I've heard different things from different people, but no one has been in the same visa cat as me, so I am very confused.

Any opinions or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Have you perused the UK regional forum?

Yes I have, they're a lovely bunch in there but unfortunately no one has the same visa cat as me or is waiting for the NVC to scheduled an interview at the embassy....so I'm hoping the lovely people in this forum might be able to shed some light.

Here's the timeline search on Visa Journey for all members with your FB-2 visa sorted by interview date. Only two in the last year.

Thanks for taking the time to look that up. Really appreciated. Makes sense why I can't find any information about interview dates 😁

Would like your opinion on something. I have a family wedding to attend in the third week of August (was booked since last year) in Florida, do you think I'd be able to go? Tickets for three weeks over there. I think this is what I am really stressed out about as I feel like I'm stuck in limbo again.

Apologies for starting so many threads, but I am at my wits end here and need some advice.

I've got DQ on 26th June 2019 (FB2 visa, dad sponsoring me 😊), my priority date is 13th March 2013, (according to Visa Bulletin my papers are current).....and I have heard nothing from anyone regarding anything ! I also checked my account and my papers are still at the NVC.

I have a wedding to go to in Florida and I have tickets booked (since last year) for two weeks time (Aug 22nd) and I genuinely don't know what to do. I have no idea how you receive your interview letter, is it through the mail or through email ?

I have emailed the NVC to try and get answers on Monday and as of right now, heard nothing from them.

I'm messing so many people around (I'm a bridesmaid) and getting yelled at all directions and seriously don't know whether I can go or not. If I know the IL comes via email then I can still receive it and move it if necessary, but if it comes via mail, I won't be able to go, but I can at least tell the bride that I can't make it.

Help please !!

It takes about 2-3 months after DQ to get your interview date.

August interviews are already set, so you are not likely to get an interview until September or October.

If you signed up for email notification, then that's how you will be notified.

People have to understand that your life and opportunity to immigrate to the US is more important than a party.  A bridesmaid is not needed for a wedding party.  Your participation in your visa interview is required.

Go to the wedding and make sure you get back to the UK ASAP for your medical exam, etc.
