Hi VJers.

I am about to file for my AOS and i plan to pay the fee of USD$1225 with money order. I went to Walmart and they told me the amount of a money order cannot exceed $1,000. So my question is if i can send in two money orders ($1000 + $225) for my filing fee?

Thanks in advance for your help. I truly appreciate this community!

Yes you could submit twelve hundred and twenty-five $1 Money Orders if you wanted to.

Obviously you shouldn't.

You can get a cashier's check at a bank for the full amount. If you don't have an account with the bank, they might charge a fee but it probably wouldn't be much more than 2 money orders.

It's certainly legal to pay with a money order or a cashier's check, but since it's generally harder to track whether USCIS has processed your payment with them than with a credit card or personal check, I'm not sure I understand why you should ...
