Hope you're in your new home, safe and sound. The first few days is so strange - it really hits home that after this whole wait, you're finally here!  All the very best with settling in and the wedding plans.

@Teetop I was also asked a lot of questions, but they weren't in an interrogatory manner. Our officer was SO NICE!  It was more chatting and asking questions while he went through the paperwork. I think in our case he was trying to make us feel welcome.  You never know what you're going to get so it's always good to be prepared for anything in this process!

Hi guys!

The day has nearly come! I’m moving to the USA tomorrow on my k1 Visa

Just wondering if there’s anything else I should take with me other than the package I received from the embassy and my previous applications etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

I'm making the same trip tomorrow, also based in Manchester and flying to Seattle (also a Man U fan, maybe I'll see you in the George and Dragon in Ballard for a match 😁).

Did you fly out of Manchester?  Any issues when airline staff UK side asked to see ESTA and/or proof of return travel or were they pretty clued up?

Don't worry about the ESTA. Not everyone who travels from Britain has an ESTA - many people travel on Visas and you have that. When I checked in at Edinburgh Airport the agent asked for our passports as usual and asked if I was traveling on an ESTA and I said, no and told them I'm heading out on a Visa. No questions asked. He told me to have a great flight.

Safe travels!  It is the most surreal feeling getting on that plane knowing it's a one way ticket!

I've been told by a friend who works for Delta that airlines now have an electronic system which indicates whether you have a valid visa or visa waiver for travel to the US, appearing as 'Y/N' next to a bunch of categories, and they just have to key in what method you are using to enter ahead of time. They should already be able to see your K1 in some form on their system. They'll just thumb through your passport to make sure you have the correct one with you. :)

Apparently the only document type which doesn't show is Advance Parole, which is why some international airlines get confused and have to call a special CBP hotline to confirm that it's acceptable.
