I am currently in line waiting for the interview date. Is it required for me (the petitioner) to attend the interview? I originally had planned to attend the interview with my husband so I am there to support him and also to assist in answering any questions they may have.

I was just informed by the NVC that in Jamaica they may not permit me into the facility. 

Does anyone have any advice or an answer for me???

Also, approximately how long does it take to get an interview date from the date my documents were approved! 

Stressed!!!

It is not required to be at the interview.  In some cases it helps to be there and to be available in case the CO has any questions.   In Ciudad Juarez USC was not let in but then they requested me.

 

Some do not allow the USC in, other do.

October 29, 2018 Applied for Social Security Card - November 5, 2018 Social Security Card received

November 6th, 2018 State ID Card Received, Applied for Global Entry - Feb 8,2019 Approved.

July 14, 2020 Removal of Conditions submitted by mail  July 12, 2021 Biometrics Completed

August 6, 2021 N-400 submitted by mail

September 7, 2021 I-751 Interview, Sept 8 Approved and Card Being Produced

October 21, 2021 N-400 Biometrics Completed  

November 30,2021  Interview, Approval and Oath

December 10, 2021 US Passport Issued

August 12, 2022 PHL Dual Nationality Re-established & Passport Approved 

April 6,2023 Legally Separated - Oh well

Agree .  Your husband being able to show the CO your passport and saying "My spouse is right outside waiting" can be meaningful.......good luck.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for the response. I plan on being there with my husband on the interview date. Fingers crossed they let me attend with him. I am excited and nervous all at the same time.

September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

I did not attend the first interview with my husband in Ja. I was requested to attend a 2nd interview. I would suggest going to the 1st interview with your husband. If you are a U.S citzen/petitioner you will be allowed to accompany your spouse.

Thank you for your response. We just got an interview for August 20th and I will be leaving a few days prior so I am able to attend with him. 

Do you know if there is a strict dress code? 

I was planning to wear a dress and sandals and I got my husband khaki pants and a polo style shirt and brown sandals. 

Do you have any advice on the interview process and what we should expect?
