Hi,

I am currently filling out my papers for the Green Card and so on and I was curious about the I-864.

I have worked at my job for a year next month and my annual pay is above the poverty guideline. However, where I started in July, my taxes only show what I earned for that half of the year. I did not work before then due to me being in college. Will I need a co sponsor or will my taxes from 2018 and current pay stubs showing what I earn be enough to let me be the only sponsor?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe, maybe not.  It's up to the discretion of the officer to determine if your current paystubs are enough.  I would line up a joint sponsor as backup, and only present the joint sponsor filing if requested.  If your job is salary, I would bring a copy of the offer letter, along with all 2019 pay stubs, because salary earnings are easier to predict than hourly workers.  If I was being paid hourly or on commission, I'd for sure get a joint sponsor lined up.

Okay, I see. I have a couple of different people lined up already, so I should be good there. This leads me to another question: I used a joint sponsor on my I-129f. Would I need to use the same person on this one or does that matter? I am currently hourly but I am full time.

I don't see a problem. Part 6 #7 is asking for projected annual income based on current earnings which can be supported by pay stubs and a letter from your employer stating wage and expected continued employment. So, if you earn $20/hour working 40 hour week, then your projected annual income would be $41,600. This is separate from Part 6 #s 24a-24c where you report total income from tax return, which may differ from what you put on Part 6 #7. For me, they were different amounts, as my reported income on my tax returns included bonuses and mileage.
