I-551 stamp & mortgage loan

Hi friends.. We filed my husbands ROC in March and received his extension letter a while back. His GC expires on June 6th and we got an accepted offer on a house which we will be closing on July 9th when we come back from vacation. We figured we would just go ahead and get the i-551 stamp in his passport to save the hassle of the bank possibly not accepting the expired GC and extension letter so I guess my question is can I schedule the info pass appointment the day before his GC expires or should I wait until it is actually expired? Thank!

You don’t have to get the stamp for a mortgage.

Hopefully the mortgage officer will be able to interpret the extension letter plus green card.  The automated bank systems are just as confused by the stamp as by the extension letter.

Can’t even see why they would need that. We just got approved and they didn’t need to see mine at all.

USCIS won't even give you a stamp if you have a valid extension letter.

Well all these answers are different 😂😭.. our banker has not had to deal with this before so we have to send him a copy of the letter and green card so I guess fingers crossed! I made him an info pass appointment just in case.
