401k, assets, life insurance, insufficient income tax

Hi! I just want to ask. Since my fiance does not met the required income tax return.i red some options that we can have assets since philippines don’t allow co sponsor.a month ago my fiance have a new job  and a part time job also.so his salary is above the minimum required already. His company also gave him 401k and life insurance. Were are just confuse if can we put them as an assets even though he dont have yet any contribution to that?and what amount are we going to put in the affidavit of support? l’ll be having my interview nextweek. Really need help!thanks.

A 401K with no contributions has an asset value of $0.   If his combined jobs are above the minimum, it will be helpful....Remember that the consulate officer has the discretion to consider your fiance's entire financial situation...good luck.

USEM does accept a co-sponsor but it is case by case.  USEM usually doesn't ask for financials but you must be prepared in the event they do ask for them otherwise you will be delayed until you answer the 221(g) they will send you.  If your fiancé makes more then the poverty level for your size family then there is no need to list additional items such as life insurance or 401K. Besides, additional items must be liquid or converted to liquid asset quickly.

 

This what USEM will ask for concerning financials.

 

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Thank you so much for the info.i already have all the reqts including cert of employment, paystubs and other proof from his employer. I know that co sponsor is not allowed in the philippines but still his mom send me her income tax return and affidavit of support just for back ups.i have a friend who did k1 visa she told me one of her friend was asked for co sponsor during the interview. I dont know if its true and i know everyones cases is different but i’ll try. Godbless us all!
