Hi friends!

I have to have some of my fiancé's documents translated. I'm wondering what your experience is with online translations that just send a pdf of translation and certification. There are a few companies here in town but they charge up to three times as much. Do I need the translation with a wet signature or is the online one ok?

Thanks!

The evidence standard is a legible photocopy.  There is only one documemnt that requires a "wet" signature and that is the signature of the petitioner on the I-129F form itself

YMMV

We used an online translation service going through K-1 and AOS and had no issues with USCIS accepting the documents.  We made sure to submit the original, translation, and certification of translation for each document we had translated.

Some people have had success doing the translations themselves, if you use the search for translations here on the forums you'll find more information on that.  You would need to certify the translation yourself and a sample of that is here:

you can translate yourself and have it notarized.  That's what I did.  Free and accepted by USCIS.  Just include the small paragraph that you are certified to translate and the date, etc.  Will be more than sufficient.

Even for birth certificates it's ok?

I did it for birth and marriage certificates!  I stated that I was able to translate from Spanish to English and I dated it.  I also notarized it with my signature.  It was accepted no problems.
