Which Affidavit of Support for I-485?

Guys I did an affidavit of support (I-134) at the embassy interview stage for our K1 but now I see the affidavit of support has to be the I-864 version. Is this correct and why?

Yes. I864 is for I485. The I864 is a legally binding agreement between the sponsor and the US government should the intending immigrant ever become a public charge.

Ya this is correct!

 

I-134 is the form for financial support for non-immigrant visas, which K-1 visas are non-immigrant visas with immigrant intent.

 

I-864 is a legally binding document dictating financial support for intending immigrants looking to become legal permanent residents.

07/05/16 - Green Card received in mail!

04/29/19 - New card being produced!
05/09/19 - USPS delivered green card! In hand now!

Presuming your wife applies for US citizenship, yes... about 4 years after she gets her green card.

Congratulations to you! Me too doing the AOS. Good luck with the ceremony I’m sure it will be beautiful:) 

 

So I guess we are actually only about 1/3 done...wow
