Question Regarding Citizenship with Pending Lifting Conditions

We are coming up on our date to file for citizenship.  Our lifting conditions petition is still pending and likely will not be decided prior to our citizenship application.  I have heard that if this is so they will decide your lifting conditions and citizenship together.  If so will this expedite a decision on our citizenship application?  Thanks...

It won't expedite, but they do tend to adjudicate both together. Sometimes this is a little faster.

Sometimes they don't, too. If so, you may even have the N-400 interview before ROC completes, in which case they will hold on a decision until ROC completes.

I concur it won’t expedite anything, but it forces them to do something about that pending I-751 when the time comes to adjudicate the N-400, so many offices just do both together in one interview or 2 interviews in the same day. The I-751 has to be approved before the N-400 can be approved.

Since the ROC and N400 are processed at different offices, it really depends on how fast your local office is processing N400s.  As to our story, my wife filed her N400 when her three year window opened and the Detroit Office was processing these pretty quickly, so the I751 was combined with the N400 and maybe cut the time for the I751 approval a few weeks compared to those that filed ROC at the same time but did not file the N400 (anecdotal of course).

 

So I agree with the above, the applications may eventually be combined, but having both applications in process is not grounds for expediting either.  That being said, I for one always advise if naturalization is the ultimate goal, why wait for the ROC to complete before getting that processing clock running.

^^^This!^^^ There was a recent thread on this very situation. I'd file for the N-400. Can't hurt and as mentioned, it MIGHT save some time.
