My husband has still not received his physical green card in the mail...it's been almost 7 months since he entered the U.S. on a IR-1 visa. How long is it taking everyone to receive it? The officer at POE said within a year we'll receive it. How can we go about tracking its progress?? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Uhm should be a lot ealier than that. My Mom enter in IR-5 and received the GC in 3 weeks. Some people 2-3 months. 7 months is very long. You need to call USCIS and make some noise.

Just posting an update. We received a letter from USCIS stating that my husbands Immigrant Visa packet was either never sent from the POE to the Texas Service Center, or it was lost somewhere along the way! I can't believe this!! We entered last August and he still does not have his green card. The letter says that further research is needed into our inquiry and that we'll receive correspondence within 90 days....are they thinking they're gonna find it?? I highly doubt it. This is so unacceptable. We were hoping to visit his family in August, but now we can't even book anything until this is all settled. Who knows what process we'll have to go through now to get this corrected! I'm so over dealing with this BS!!

USCIS is a nonresponsive black hole.  Call the CBP station at your POE, ask for the shift supervisor*, explain this snafu, and ask what their procedures are and how soon they can provide you a meaningful update.  Ask if they have special channels to the USCIS service centers.  Be prepared with A#, I-94 details, etc.  Get names of every agent to whom you speak.  Post back to let us know what you learn.

*Given the stresses that CBP is currently under, an excited "Oh, I'm so happy to be talking with you!  I know that you can help me!" might go a long way.

My husband checked the status online this morning & it changed to "card is being produced"! It says that our form OS155A was approved & that they ordered the card to be produced & delivered to our address. Hopefully it will arrive soon! I was wondering how anything could be lost since he didn't have a packet...he was part of the new digital upload process. Fingers crossed it arrives quickly!

The TSC is allegedly slow in recognizing the digital system.

Congratulations on the good news!
