Absolutely! Can certainly stop it from being ignored and sitting in a black hole somewhere though :)

I am sorry but the state senator office can not keep it from sitting in a black hole, they can inquire likely they will get the same response back it is in AP, there is nothing that will keep them from letting it sit.

the only thing that might keep it from sitting in a writ of mandamus, and even then all that does it force a decision, which could lead to a denial, and not an approval.

if in time of interview the officer said Congrats that it mean approved even if he ask for any additional paper or forums theoretically its done but they cant process the visa without completion of all required paper i d keep eye on CEAC tracker for week if didnt change to issued then it might go for while ,mine after i submit paper twice and passport took like week and was issued but after submission it changed AP  and that is normal.and then issued.

Yes, that’s exactly what happened! Thank you, yes, I’m checking CEAC obsessively!

Sending an update...my fiancé from Egypt did get a DS-5535 and after 60 days in AP I contacted my senator even though everyone said it wouldn’t help.  My senator contacted the embassy, received a response back the same week, then two weeks later the embassy called my fiancé and told him the visa would be issued this month (May).  The website updated and is no longer in AP and he’ll have it in a week.

Don’t lose hope! Praying for peace to you 🙏🏼

Glad to hear that. Just goes to show the negative Nellies, bitter bettys, and Debbie downers on this site are not always correct like they think they are. Congrats and I hope your fiancé gets his visa soon!
