This is my current timeline! As far as I can tell, it seems like DOS is not following the order of receipt since I have seen a few people who submitted the whole thing after I did and they got already a favorable recommendation.

We are actually in the same timeline. I’m not sure if your process was pushed back because you changed your address. I think you will get yours soon though.

Hi

Thank for your reply. It helped. Though till today I haven't received the DoS letter. But I have received USCIS notice letter on my mail today, notice date April 1 as well. It is a relief that USCIS has my correct address. Yes, you are right that USCIS is the final authority. So I will wait for the final approval from USCIS.

Thanks

Hey Dev,

One last update: I got my Approval Notice yesterday! :) Also, I'll be damned, but my favorable rec from DoS ended up coming lol I checked the tracking again and it was picked up by USPS on April 7th, even though the rec was sent March 23rd. So yours may be coming your way soon! Nice to have as we talked, but Approval Notice is all that matters anyway.

Good luck everyone who's still on this journey! It will all work out out in the end. 🤞

Did you get the USCIS approval notice? How long did it take after DOS recommendation update online? Congrats anyway!

Hi

Congratulation!

I am checking status in USCIS website everyday but no luck. It is good to know that you have received it very fast. I hope I will get to know my one soon!
Thanks for sharing your updates.

Hey J1toH1,

Yes,  I got the approval notice this past weekend; it's dated April 6th.

DoS sent recommendation on March 23rd, so 2 weeks.

I am in 12 weeks of waiting since the DoS received all my documents. Still no update on the recommendation - my employer needs to begin my H1B process soon as the premium processing has been suspended and my employment start date is July 1. I am getting desperate :(  Emailed the DoS and they said that they offer expedited processing to only those with humanitarian issues or a government interest. Any advice on what more can I do? If the home country has issued the NOS it is still possible to not get a favorable recommendation? I didn't have any government funding for my J1 from either my home country or US.

17th week. Took help from congressman for expedited processing. Got standard reply yesterday that processing time is 12-16 weeks and takes longer in some cases.  They didn't bother to mention how much time it would take. My visa ending in June. There is nothing I can do. I'm planning to start Job search somewhere else.

You can ask your employer if they can file for H1B without waiver.

Oh no! I am sorry. I might also start looking for a job elsewhere - everyone has been telling me to do that as a fall back option but I have been hoping against hope :( They said the same to me too - 12-16 weeks and longer in some cases! Arghhhh!
