2+ months later and no NOA1, is something wrong?

Hi all, the California Service Center issued our Receipt Notice on 12/4/18 stating they received our case on 11/29/18. From studying up on this I thought NOA1 took about a month. It's been 2 months with no NOA1. Is this a sign something is wrong? Should I call and ask whether anything is wrong? If so, who?

Also, Fiancee lives in Moscow but we requested Kiev for interview in the hopes we could get an appointment sooner. However Kiev may no longer work due to the political situation. I know they may assign us to Moscow regardless of the request. If we were granted Kiev, and wanted to change to Moscow, how would we go about doing so? Thanks!

The NOA1 is the receipt notice. Are you saying you got the notification online, but not the paper copy or did you think the NOA1 was something else entirely?

Wow I feel stupid. I thought NOA1 meant they were sending it to the NVC and NOA2 meant they were sending it to the embassy.

If NOA1 is the receipt, NOA2 is when it goes to the NVC, then what is it called when it goes to the embassy?

NOA 1 is the receipt. That mean is your priority date. Since your NOA 1 date is 11/29/18, you probably won't hear anything until at least May or June of 2019.

Your NOA 2 is when your petition is approved and will move onto the NVC towards the embassy. That is currently taking 5-7 months.

Please fill in your timeline for a better understanding of when your approval date will be.

PD is not a term associated with K-1 visas.

OP,  you are months away from your petition approval (NOA2), and from the petition being sent to the consulate via NVC.  Please fill out your timeline, and you will get more accurate estimated processing times.  Also, look at the forum for December 2018 I-129F filers, and you will be in good company with similar filers.

There is no "requesting" of a particular embassy.  If she resides in Moscow, the petition will go there, regardless of which embassy you listed in the petition.

Best of luck!  :-)

Actually, there is a PD with the K1 visa but it is not used with that visa.

It could also be perceived as the received date for K1, especially at NVC stage.

Right.  Because unlike other visa categories, there are no geographic/numeric limits to the K-1, so there really is no PD.
