Household size in split home (split)

Sorry to jump on this also, I have a related question. This house is 2 apartments, the downstairs was remodeled for my husband and I. We live separately for all intents and purposes from the other 2 individuals. Is it then correct that our household size is 2 (he and I) and not 4? OR would the government say the household size is 4, as there are 4 under this one roof. Seems a silly question, but I just never know.

Personally, I would say 2 for YOUR household size.

When looking at how much is needed for support, don't think in terms of the physical house structure. It is counting up your "financial household" size. You and your spouse do not support the other two. Your "financial" household size is 2.

See the form instructions:

Part 5. Sponsor’s Household Size

Add together the number of persons for whom you are financially responsible.

From my personal experience, USCIS  normally look at your tax return documents to determine your family size. Do you have any dependent listed on your tax return beside you two?
