My fiance had interview today and unfortunately didn't get visa yet. They gave her some paper saying that she's required to send to the embassy document 'certificate of same person' with translation. 

When she was 8yo she had last name change. We've submitted name change document, but I guess now they want to confirm it?

Along with this document, they requested current passport, and said that the proceeding will take 10-15 business days.

 

Are we on the final stretch?

There was no way she could have received the visa today. It takes at least a few days for processing and printing the visa.

 

That said, it does sound it went well overall. They just need the document they requested then they can continue processing the case. Assuming no issues come up, the visa will be issued. Until then, the case will remain in Administrative Processing (AP).

As for a timeline, I'll defer to others what is typical for that embassy/consulate. Generally a few weeks is normal if there are no issues, but there is no fixed timeline for AP either.

Keep in mind it's the holiday season....things may or may not process as quickly/slowly as normal, and there are a few holidays coming up where they are closed.

What I meant that she didn't receive visa today is that she didn't get approved yet. They gave here document with list of 30 documents and highlighted only one needed (name change when she was a kid). They also said that this document needs English translation and she needs to send it along with her current passport.

We don't mind waiting few extra weeks. The plan is for her to move to US sometimes in February anyway.

Not really relevant information but my wife interviewed on Wednesday and her visa was delivered on that same Friday. I thought it was amazing.

I'll start this post with a big smile :)

 

So after the interview, embassy asked for Same person certificate. The interview was on the 11th, the certificate along with passport were sent to Bangkok on the 13th.

Yesterday my fiance received her passport with the visa in it :)

Thank you ALL for your guidance and help. It's not an easy process, but if you follow the steps everything can be done without paying for some third party companies that work on your K1 visa process.

Now I'm going to move to the status adjustment section of VJ :)
