Hello everyone,

We have two questions related SSN, please help us. Thank you very much.

First question:

Does anyone knows how long it takes for the SSN recently? We applied SSN about 6 weeks ago, however, we haven't got the SSN yet.

We tried to call the SSN about 2 weeks ago, and we were told that it is in homeland security now.

In this situation, what should we do now?

Second question:

Is it OK that we submit AOS and Permission of Work Authorization without SSN?

Thank you very much.

It takes as long as it takes for manual verification. Likely it will be done soon.

You can file AOS and other forms without an SSN fine.

My husband's had to go through homeland security for several weeks too. The SS people said to come back in 8 weeks and we did and it was processed without a problem. I think it's worth another in-person visit. We had to talk to a supervisor (that is, the person at the window called his supervisor for help when needed) for it to work. I wish we had gone in a little early just in case - if you can make it in, it might not hurt to try again. We called and they said it wasn't ready yet, but it was actually ready when we went in person the next morning. 🤔

Hi Daisy,

Thank you for your reply. We went to the SSA, they said our case is still pending at Homeland security. We are going to contact homeland security now. Hope everything will be fine. In the meantime, we are getting ready to submit the AOS without SSN as well. :)
