We got approved too. It was on Oct 9. But now we're waiting for our case number to be assigned. Me and my fiance called them twice today haha. But they don't have our case yet so I'll call again tomorrow. Anyone who got their mcn? 😀

So, what's the earliest that it could be at all useful to start calling NVC? 2 weeks? Or is there a chance my files will get there sooner?

I’m at 3 weeks and they have not received it yet. Personally I would not call before 2 weeks.

Send an email to the Embassy and ask for the Packet 3 letter that lists all the documents and steps for the interview. They will email you the P3 letter. Once you get that then send me a copy as I usually have them to share with each embassy but I don't have yours. Thanks.

Hi Greenbaum, thanks so much! Please find the P3 Letter attached. Thank you so so much for all of your help. I'm going to go in to try to complete the DS-260 and schedule my interview now.

@Greenbaum Do I have to wait for my NVC status to say "Ready" before scheduling the interview? Or is it okay to schedule now, even though the status is "At NVC"?

First you want to complete the DS-160 and NOT the DS-260.

I believe that you can pay your interview fee and schedule your interview before your record is set to "Ready" at your embassy. If you make the attempt and either of two things will happen 1) the website will not let you or the 2) is once you schedule it and the Embassy didn't like what you did, then they will cancel it and inform you with a "slap on the hands". No big deal. The man who owns the gold makes the rules.

Once you get confirmation to your interview date, print of a couple of screen shots as you may need one to get you into the medical. I have no idea if any of this works for Barbados but it does work for the Philippines. Get back to me with what happens. Would like to add that to my Barbados notes so when the next persons ask I can inform them.

This may be a silly question. Since applying for the K1 I have been to visit my fiance in the US in May. I have a trip booked in November as well. I plan to fill out the DS-160 and book my medical and interview prior to this trip, so that I can do them as soon as I get back in December, spend Christmas with my family, and then move over to the US as early as I can in the new year.

I'm aware of the usual "risks" of travelling to the US whilst a K1 visa is being applied for. Are these risks any greater since I am towards the end of the process of the new visa? I just suddenly had this thought and now I'm nervous.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Many travel under the same circumstances you are anticipating with no problems. Just be sure to take some extra documentation to show that you will be returning.

1. Embassy appointment letter

2. Lease on your flat

3. If your job knows you are going to be away have them give you a letter that they are expecting you to return on such and such a date.

4. Anything else you can think of that ties you back to the UK

Hello everyone!

We got our case approved in the 29th of September and it got received in the NVC on the 23rd of October. So between 3 to 4 weeks.

Since the embassy of my country does not process immigrant visas, including the K1, I will have to go to Paris for the interview. Anyone here has anything to share about the process in Paris for portuguese nationals?

The visa process is already so expensive and having to spend more on flights, stay and food is really annoying.

Have a great day!

BAM! There you go!
