Not sure if this is correct location for this question.  My kids have dual citizenship, US and Brazil. one of them has a Brazilian passport that's expired and we are traveling to Brazil soon.

Can she travel on her US passport if I get her a tourist visa? it would save me some time and money.

* Moved from tourist Visas to Regional forum since the question is about traveling to Brazil, not a US tourist visa *

Generally one must enter and exit using the passport of their country of citizenship. I don't know if this applies specifically to Brazil, though (it does to the US and may other countries).

You have 2 choice:

1.Renew Brazil PP.

2.Use US Passport then apply for Brazil eVisa, then travel with US Passport.

That's what i was thinking. Use her US passport and get a tourist visa for Brazil.

I need to find out if Brazil will accept her entering on tourist visa being a dual citizen.  I know the US will not allow this in reverse.

They won't, http://houston.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/faq_-_frequently_asked_questions.xml:

25. I'm a Brazilian with dual citizenship. How do I apply for a visa on my US passport?

Brazilian citizens, even those with dual citizenship, must enter and leave Brazil with a Brazilian passport. If the applicant was born in Brazil and no longer holds the Brazilian citizenship, documented proof of loss of citizenship must be presented along with the visa application.

It's possible and depend on immigration law of every country. I'm dual citizens( Vietnam-US), but my VN PP expired for a long time, so I don't want deal with the hassle to renew a new PP, so i'm apply for VN Visa and travel to VN with my US Passport with no problem.

I've heard of people getting Brazilian visas on their dual citizen child's US passport, and was hoping to do that myself since Brazilian passports for small children have ridiculously short durations.I saw this blog post about it: https://morarnoseua.com.br/2017/02/10/visto-brasileiro-para-criancas-americanas/ (in Portuguese)

I'm probably going to try doing that next year.

ETA: Seems like this only works for children not registered at the Brazilian consulate, so in your case that wouldn't work and the advice above stands.
