Hi,

Can you keep us posted and let us know what USCIS did with your re-filed case?

Thanks! :)

Also, I saw this and thought you should know (as you already researched): This is the requirement from USCIS website regarding filing and paying fees for I-129F petition:

Now you should be fine, you can not put a check in an envelope for USCIS

I put my check in this envelope and attached it to the top of the application and had no issues at all, so I don''t think it matters if it is in an envelope, It just matters if they see it. ( Check was outside envelope for the scan below)

Absolutely!

Thanks for sharing—these are the same guidelines we used before submitting our petition. We had already used a money order when we tried to send a petition in October of last year, but the package disappeared somewhere between sending it and USCIS receiving it (they never had it on file, we didn't have appropriate tracking, and it was never returned to sender) so we didn't want to use that option again (or the credit card one in case it got lost again). My fiance, unfortunately, had no personal cheques so we decided to go for a "cashier's check", but the "teller's check" is what was given to us by the bank when we asked for a "cashier's check" so we thought it was the same thing. I will be sure to update on the result of our re-filing, especially if it turns out that it was actually the cheque that was the issue.

I got the same problem, they rejected the package for no reason. I used two credit card forms, one for i130 and another one for the rest. Amounts are correct.

Tier 1 officers didn't understand why, tier 2 officers never called me back.

I took my chance and resubmitted the same package, with one credit card form on the top amounting the total 1760 usd. They accepted it. And I just did my biometric today.

Good luck.

Interesting...they must have some guidelines that not everyone is consistent with or something. I saw that another petitioner tried to submit a payment as well as an alternative payment as a backup, but they then had their package returned with a notice telling them that they couldn't split the payment, even though they hadn't. I guess the easier it is for the officers to understand and find your stuff, the better...though I suppose it needs to be easier for them than I originally anticipated 😣

Fingers crossed for you! Hoping it goes through this time and that the issue was they just missed the first check (despite how frustrating even that is).

Thank you! I'm definitely hoping they just missed it so we don't have to wait another month just to find out we need to try a different payment method. The fiance will be working on getting some personal cheques in the meantime in case we need them 😣

Update #2 (August 27, 2018):

Fiance received the email notification to let us know that our petition is on its way to the California Service Center so it looks like it finally got through! I suppose this confirms that the cheque was, indeed, missed when we sent the petition. 😅
