When i called to get my receipt number the one that they gave me starts with LIN which stands for Nebraska service center (which was the one handling my I485 ). Is that normal or is it supposed to start with WAC since I sent my case to California at the end of August?

Maybe they transferred your case over to lin? Where was the check cashed?

It seems the way they handling the cases are all over the place.

We sent in a money order so I can't tell where it has been cashed. The guy on the phone told me that they mailed my noa on September 24th and I should receive it any day now (that was a week ago). That seemed to be the case for many of us. I still have 2 more weeks till my green card expires but I am starting to get anxious. It's just getting ridiculous at this point.

I think the biggest problem is that this is the worst way to handle a delay, usually when there is a delay everything slows down so they can catch up, but the USCIS for whatever just fixed the problem for the Sept filers, but are just leaving us delayed filers high and dry. I get there are multiple systems that apparently don't communicate with each other... IE "Your NOA was mailed on this day." No it wasn't. You system said it was sent which really means it was sent to the IT dept to be generated and it and it wasn't. Honestly this should be the easiest part of the whole process. There is no case checking other than forms were signed/completed.

It's normal. I sent my application to California service center . Check was cashed in Arizona. My receipt number starts with LIN. There's a few more people in this thread in the same boat. They are transferring our cases all over the place.

My check was also cashed on September 24th and USCIS told me I can call them October 24th and file a service request for the missing mail if I don't get NOA by that date. I would recommend you do the same thing.

Didn't get the stamp - he told me in order to give me the stamp I'd have to surrender my green card, which doesn't expire for another couple of weeks anyway. But when it does expire I'll make another appointment and probably get the stamp so I can renew my drivers licence at least.

To the appointment I brought evidence my original application was delivered by fedex, as well as a copy of the email I was sent following my conversation with an agent on the USCIS helpline, which detailed the enquiry and reference ID they gave me. I feel like that's probably all I needed, or even just my A number and proof I sent something, to be honest. I also brought an entire copy of my I-751 application, but he didn't even look at it.

There are definitely two systems, one which we and the helpline can see and use, and one that infopass officers can see. It sounds like he's very frustrated that the system is behind, and there's nothing we can do about it. He also told me they will eventually getting rid of infopass appointments (no timeline though), as it's deemed a "convenience" for immigrants, not essential (!).

Were you planning to travel out of the country when your green card expires? If not, then it makes sense why the officer didn't give you the stamp. My situation is different, I'll be travelling outside the country and while returning back my green card will be expired.

I got infopass even though I’m not going to travel. Job depend on that stamp so it is a must.

i see,my husband's job doesnt care for it。so we aren't going to an infopass appt。instead we contacted a congressman, hoping they can somehow speed things up for us。

will update everyone how that goes

Wait.. stamps require a GC to be surrendered? Doesn't that nullify the NOA as an NOA is paired with a expired GC for travel?

It actually does, although I don't like the idea of giving up the expired green card either.  Basically, the stamp is the replacement for you NOA, therefore no need for your green card or NOA.

at one time you should have either

NOA + expired green card or a stamp in the passport.

BUT it seems like it depends on the office and/or officer if they take your expired card. Again, does not make sense because all the offices should follow the same rules everywhere.🙄
