Hello- I am asking for a friend- (I went through this process a few years ago)- when submitting the statement from the foreign fiancé certifying intent to marry- would a scanned copy of her signature be okay to submit? It’s not possible for the fiancé in Haiti to mail the letter to the UsA with the original signature and the petitioner isn’t going back to haiti anytime soon. (I flew back and forth to get the original documents from my then fiancé) So if she scanned it to the Usa fiancé and he printed it for the k1 packet- would that do? Has anyone does this and how did it work out for you?

thanks!

It has to be signed by her in ink. There's no other way around it. Why can't she mail the letter? It's not exactly difficult.

The beneficiary can scan a copy yes. The petitioners should be original "wet" signature. Scanned copies from the beneficiary has been acceptable for several years now.

Actually, everything in Haiti is difficult. Third world countries are FAR different than dealing with developed countries. When I went through the process I was lucky I had a job where I could take time off on the whim to travel to Haiti for certain documents-extremely costly but was the only way for us.

Thank you so much! I will let him know the fiancé can scan him a copy... now it’s just hoping she can find a place to scan and email 🙂

Yes sir, they have, at least for the last 9 years.

When the Beneficiary goes to the interview, have them take a "wet" copy with them. Preferably the matching one.

My fiancé hand write the entire thing that way it doesn't look like a typed with sig thing and as long as they take it to interview it really doesn't matter. Odds are they might not even ask to see it. It's just one of those forms you have to bring, just in case, but they will verbally ask for fiancé's intent.

Just an FYI - for any other documents that need to be sent back and forth, DHL is a good option. It's not exactly cheap, but definitely much cheaper than a plane ticket.

Yes a scanned copy worked for us and I just got my NOA2 approved in August.

My fiance printed out a copy of the letter (in Haiti at one of the many print/office supply stores, there are lots in PaP) signed it and then asked it to be scanned in and emailed to me. I printed out the scanned copy and turned that in with my packet. As mentioned before, make sure your fiance hangs on to the original one that was signed and they bring it with them (along with copies of ALL the other paperwork) to the interview once you get to that point.
