Administrative Processing

Hello All,

I had my F1 visa interview on 17th July 2018. The VO asked me a few questions about the college and how I am going to fund my degree. After that, she asked me about my prior visit to the US( I have traveled to the US before on a B2 visa. I was subjected to secondary immigration check while entering the US.  My luggage was thoroughly checked, I was asked a lot of questions about why I came to the US, my photo and fingerprints were taken. After 6 hrs, I was let inside). The VO handed me my passport along with 221g blue slip saying that my case has been put under administrative processing. Is there anything I could do to expedite the process(My classes start on the 6th of August). Could someone tell the timeline within which this will be solved?

Agreed...no way to speed up AP. It takes as long as it takes (so long as they are not waiting on anything from you).

AP can take days, weeks, months (rarely), or years (very rarely).

Is there any reason you only scheduled your interview a few weeks before classes begin? That’s leaving it kind of late, doubt you could get any kind of expedite based on not planning properly unfortunately. The official website advises you to apply early and notes that you can apply up to 120 days in advance.

incidentally, when was the B2 trip you mention?

It took me some time to arrange my finances plus the start date mentioned in my I20 is 27th August( The orientations are starting on 30th July).  The trip on my B2 visa was in August of 2015 for a duration of 2 months.

Well.. again, a delay on your part and difference in the start date listed is unfortunately no grounds for expediting.
