K-1 Visa Birth Certificate; Only One Parent

Hi, I'm new to this website!

 

My SO and I haven't started the process yet as I'm still finishing my last few semesters of University in Canada, but this issue has really been bugging me since I've started looking at the process. 

So obviously a Birth Certificate is needed, but everywhere I look says that only a complete certificate with both parent's names is acceptable. 

My "father" has never been a part of my life, nor do I even know how I would go about contacting him, or if he's even alive. Needless to say, his name is not and has never been on my birth certificate.

Am I royally screwed in this regard?? My certificate is complete besides his name.

Is there anything I can do??

If there is no father listed on your long form birth certificate, not much you can do about it. Just make sure you get the long form one.

11/10/2019    APPROVED (notification rec'd 11/10, approval dated 11/8)

DONE FOR TWO YEARS!!! ;)

 

Filed everything ourselves with no RFE's or delays.

 

CR1 for Child under 21 (20 at time of filing)- Filed by LPR Spouse for his son

4/4/20     Mailed packet

4/12/20   NOA1 rec'd

10/14/21 (havent heard anything... when do i start to get worried?)

9/15/22 APPROVED! Now to wait for NVC and interview....

Also, make sure to mark "N/A" in the fields that are provided for the father's information.

 

Don't worry, not having a second parent won't be a problem in your application.

10/28/2015: Medical Exam
11/17/2015: Interview...rescheduled due to computer problems. New date as yet unknown.
11/18/2015: Called in for interview and APPROVED!

11/24/2015: Picked up visa/passport and sealed packet from the Consulate! <happy dance>

02/14/2016: Arrived in the U.S. (POE was Bermuda)...CO was really nice!

Same here... I sent an extra "supplemental info" page for that question explaining that my father is unknown and I have no way of getting info, but I don't think it was needed at all. My app is still processing. I imagine this is a common occurrence. I wouldn't stress, just do as the others have said and put in "N/A" or "unknown" on the applicable questions on the I-129f, so they know it's not just an incomplete birth cert.
